Rodent & Gopher Control in Yuma
Over 30 Years Protecting Yuma Homes & Businesses. Voted Best Six Times.
Rodent and gopher problems in Yuma aren’t like those in most other Arizona cities. Proximity to irrigation canals, agricultural land, and the Colorado River corridor creates pest pressure that shifts with the seasons. Summer heat pushes rodents indoors in search of water and cool air, and monsoon moisture drives field rodents toward foundations and structures. Addressing that pressure effectively requires local knowledge, not a generic treatment plan.
Yuma Pest & Termite Systems has been serving Yuma County since 1992. It’s over three decades of continuous local service backed by more than 100 years of combined team experience. We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as the foundation of every rodent control service: We identify what’s drawing pests to a property, address those root conditions, and apply targeted treatments only where they’re actually needed. We’re licensed in Arizona, verified on HomeAdvisor, and have been voted Yuma’s Best Pest Control Company by Yuma Sun readers six times. Free estimates are available for all services, and we walk through cost and treatment options before any work begins.

Signs You Have a Rodent Problem
Catching an infestation early makes a real difference for your property and your family’s health. Here are the key indicators to watch for.
Droppings & Urine Trails
Small, dark pellets along baseboards, inside cabinets, or near food sources are a clear sign of rodent activity. Urine trails and stains, especially visible under UV light, can indicate rodents are present.
Gnaw Marks & Damage
Rodents chew constantly to wear down their teeth. Watch for gnaw marks on furniture, walls, and wiring. Chewed wires in particular create a fire and safety hazard.
Nesting Materials
Rodents build nests from paper, fabric, insulation, and plant debris. Shredded material tucked into hidden corners is a common indicator. In Yuma, pack rats (woodrats) take this further: They hoard sticks, wiring, and household items in garages, walls, storage areas, and engine compartments, leaving large, organized debris piles rather than scattered shredding. If you find an unusual accumulation of materials in a tucked-away space, a pack rat is a likely suspect.
Unusual Pet Behavior
Cats and dogs often sense rodents before you do. If a pet is fixated on a section of wall or ceiling, or acting agitated without an obvious cause, it’s worth investigating for rodent activity inside the structure.
Foul Odors
Rodent urine and droppings produce a strong, musty smell that can appear before other signs are visible. Any unexplained odor concentrated in a cabinet, closet, or storage area is worth investigating.
Scratching Noises
Rodents are most active at night. Scratching, squeaking, or scurrying sounds in walls, ceilings, or the attic after dark are a common indicator of movement and nesting.
Food Tampering
Chewed packaging or gnawed containers in your pantry indicate rodents have found a food source. Beyond the damage, rodents contaminate food with droppings, urine, and saliva. Anything they’ve accessed should be discarded.
Burrows & Runways
Active burrows or worn runways in the yard, garden, or near outdoor structures indicate rodents are working close to your home. Fill in burrows promptly and remove accessible food and water sources to discourage further activity.
Daytime Sightings
Rodents are nocturnal. Seeing one during daylight hours, indoors or outside, strongly suggests the population has grown large enough to push animals out during off-hours. If this happens, contact us promptly.
